Safeguarding

The Roam Project CIC is committed to creating safe, supportive and inclusive environments for all young people. Safeguarding is a core part of everything we do, and we take our responsibility to protect children and young people very seriously.
Every member of our team, including volunteers, staff and contributors, plays a role in keeping participants safe.

Our safeguarding measures include ensuring all volunteers and team members have up‑to‑date DBS checks, using a parental consent system for participation, photography, video and media permissions, allowing parents and guardians to opt in or out of digital content use including options for face‑blurring where needed, limiting photo and video capture to authorised team members only, and maintaining a training and compliance tracker to monitor CPD, safeguarding training and renewal dates for volunteers and coaches.

We are committed to creating spaces where every young person feels safe, respected and able to express themselves. Our sessions promote emotional safety, positive communication, inclusion and clear boundaries for all participants and adults.

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a young person involved with The Roam Project, please contact us immediately. Concerns can be reported through our contact form by selecting the safeguarding option. We take all concerns seriously and follow the appropriate procedures.

We handle digital and media safeguarding with care. Only authorised team members capture images, we obtain clear parental consent for all media use, and we blur faces where consent is not given or where required for safety. We never publish identifying information without explicit permission.

Safeguarding is an ongoing responsibility. We regularly review our processes, update training, refresh consent systems and improve our practices in line with current guidance. Our aim is to maintain the highest possible standards of safety and protection for every young person who takes part in The Roam Project.
